QuickBooks Online (QBO) has introduced a major update to its bank feed interface, and it’s more than just a visual refresh—it’s a smarter, more intuitive experience designed to streamline your bookkeeping. Starting October 1, 2025, the new layout will become the default for all users, replacing the older version that many have grown accustomed to.
The redesigned bank feed features a cleaner, more modern look that improves readability and navigation. Transaction details are easier to access, with hover-over descriptions that reveal full bank text without the need to click. Editing has also become more efficient — users can now update categories, vendors, classes, and locations directly within the feed, eliminating the need for pop-up windows or extra steps.
Beyond aesthetics, QuickBooks has added powerful AI-driven enhancements. The system now offers smarter suggestions for categorizing transactions and selecting payees, and it even explains the reasoning behind its recommendations based on your historical activity. Matching capabilities have also improved, especially for complex transactions like one-to-many matches that previously required manual intervention.
One of the most helpful new features in QuickBooks Online's updated bank feed is the ability to add comments directly to transactions. If something looks unclear or needs supporting documentation, you can simply leave a note right in the feed. QuickBooks will then automatically create a Request List, a centralized space where you and your accountant can track which transactions need follow-up. This makes collaboration much easier and cuts down on the back-and-forth emails. Another time-saving improvement is the ability to post a transaction and still make changes afterward. Whether you need to update a category, vendor, or other details, you no longer have to undo and redo steps—just make the adjustment right in the feed. These enhancements are designed to simplify your workflow and make bookkeeping more flexible and efficient.
